To start things off for the Made in Bali series, I thought I'd start with a product that I use often for surfing in Bali and which is both environmentally friendly and non-toxic, a rarity in the sunscreen world!
I've had this for about 2 months and have plenty left! As you can see, it's been well used! |
With toxicity of major brands in the sunscreen world being a topic of concern for many, it is refreshing to see a product which will not harm your skin or the environment and which works extremely well.
According to the 100% recycled packaging, Surf Yogis Sunscreen is made from: virgin coconut oil, organic bee's wax, zinc oxide, cocoa powder and cocoa butter.
One tub of Surf Yogis sunscreen usually lasts me a whole year of surfing in Bali, which means I'm using it 3-4 times a week for a year - in short, the stuff lasts!
The price in most shops in Bali at the moment is 185,000 Rp (approx. $20 US) but I think this is money well spent due to the amount of use you get from one tub. To compare, I bought a similarly sized tube of Zinka sunscreen (not natural) for slightly less and it only lasted me 2 months and would sting my eyes as I surfed because it would run as soon as I got in the sea.
On the whole, I would definitely recommend Surf Yogis Sunscreen to all surfers and water users coming to Bali as it will protect your face from those strong rays effectively and naturally. A big thumbs up from us at Life in Bali!

For those of you already in Bali, you can buy Surf Yogis products at Drifter Surf Shop (Oberoi), Zula Vegetarian Cafe (Dhyana Pura, Seminyak) and the Bali Buddha (various locations including Kerobokan and Uluwatu).
